Why John Chow Makes Me Happy (and Sad)
There’s a blog that I’ve been keeping an eye on recently that you may have seen mentioned on a various other sites. The site is called John Chow dot Com and is a blog that aims to help you make money online. What a nice gesture! Another nice gesture is that John Chow is offering to link to your blog if you review his blog. So that’s what I’m doing here…
Here’s the top 5 reasons why John Chow makesĀ me happy…
- He offers a free eBook on making money online. It’s a nice introductory text that is indefinitely worth reading.
- He keeps a handy page of the top posts from his blog. No idea how the top posts are selected, but it’s certainly useful to have the best of the site in one place for the newcomers to the site.
- He brings your attention to the monetization mechanisms that work, because he tests and uses them himself.
- He’s got a very flat head (see photo below!)
- His writing style is very easy to read and absorb.

But to be fair, let’s have a look at the 3 reasons why John Chow makes me sad…
- The site is littered with advertising, it doesn’t generally get in the way of the content - but it is sometimes a bit overpowering.
- He uses the brilliant Wordpress software, but doesn’t credit them in the footer like most Wordpress users do.
- The site is not valid XHTML, as checked on the W3C Validator, and loading just the first page gave me 19 Javascript errors.
Ok, so I’ve been a bit pernickety with my recommendations, but I think John needs that to really take his blog to the next level. On the whole it’s a great resource, and you should definitely check out the site at johnchow.com and form your own opinion.

Congrats on making Batch 88. Keep up the great work with your blog.
